  2. An ordinary soldier hounded by the mass media for ‘crimes’ similar to those committed by the Americans and British. The post war ‘trial’ was exposed as a travesty but Peiper was still stigmatised as a ‘war criminal’.

    I don’t for one moment believe that the cowards who murdered him were ‘veterans of the French Resistance’; more likely they were local Communists who weren’t old enough to have experienced WW2. In any case, these people remain unpunished and I estimate that the perpetrators will be aged about fifty five to sixty by now. WHY HAVE THE FRENCH AUTHORITIES NOT INSTIGATED A PROPER, THOROUGH INVESTIGATION?
